Frequently Asked Questions
What is Home Education Maths Academy?
Home Education Maths Academy offers small‑group, drop‑off maths classes for Prep–Year 12 students in Brisbane’s north‑west. Lessons blend hands‑on learning, movement, collaboration, and clear curriculum alignment.
Where are classes held?
All classes run at Upper Kedron Community Hall, 98 Cedar Creek Rd, Upper Kedron QLD 4055.
Who teaches the classes?
Classes are taught by Lauren — a qualified, registered teacher, long‑term homeschool mum, and former engineer (civilian and Australian Army). She designs and delivers every lesson herself, bringing a practical, relationship‑centred approach to learning.
Do parents stay, or is it drop‑off?
Classes are fully drop‑off. Parents are welcome to settle their child in at the start, but the learning environment is designed for independent engagement.
Which year levels do you teach?
Prep through Year 12, grouped by stage to ensure appropriate challenge, pacing, and social comfort.
Do you follow the Australian Curriculum?
Yes. Every class is aligned with the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics, while also offering the flexibility and responsiveness that home‑educating families value — space for curiosity, movement, and individual pacing.
How big are the classes?
Each class is capped at 6 students to support individual attention, strong relationships, and a calm learning environment.
How much do classes cost?
Classes are $50 per session, billed by the term. Term fees secure your child’s place for the full term.
How do I pay?
Families are invoiced once they have confirmed their enrolment. Invoices are to be paid prior to the commencement of classes to secure the student’s place for the term.
Do you offer free trials?
No. Due to small class sizes and high demand, free trials are not offered. Families are welcome to contact Lauren with questions before enrolling.
What should my child bring?
A water bottle, a pencil case, and any maths notebook they already use at home. All other materials are provided.
What if my child has additional needs?
Many students thrive in small, structured, movement‑rich environments. If your child has specific needs, you’re welcome to contact Lauren to discuss whether the class setup is a good fit.
Do you provide reports or assessments?
Yes. Families receive a brief end‑of‑term progress summary outlining key concepts covered and observations about engagement and growth.
What is your cancellation or refund policy?
Term bookings secure a place for the full term. Refunds are not offered for missed classes, but families receive all materials and can request guidance for catching up at home.
How do I enrol?
Families can enrol through the Classes page or by getting in touch via the Contact page. Once enrolment is confirmed, an invoice will be issued and payment is required prior to commencement.
